Randoms on Wednesday

Well hello folks! Its the middle of the week, I can see the weekend in sight!

& for todays randoms....

1. I have finally been getting some of our furniture painting done. I mentioned in this post I had finally found a dresser I loved. Last weekend we got the base color painting on it. Now I just have to put the glaze & top coat on. Then voila! We can stop piling our clothes all over the floor in our room. :)

Here is one of the night stands I also painted, before it was glazed. I will post pics of the finished products soon.

2. Everyone's been jumping on the resolution train. Me? Not so much. I hate making them because I know I won't keep them. I have been thinking more about working out and eating better though. I really have got to get it together. Over the holidays I majorly slacked off. Especially on the gym. I actually did 40 minutes on my elliptical at home last night! Go me! Its a start. And today I downloaded the Nike Training app to my phone. It has a bunch of work outs and shows you exactly how to do them. I am excited to try this out in the gym! So maybe secretly I am making a resolution? I am just not calling it that to trick myself! Ha!

3. Speaking of eating healthy... Anyone have any quick easy ideas for breakfast foods? I have to eat breakfast in the morning or I am starving and feel like crap. I usually eat a granola bar, dry cereal etc. With some kinda of milk to drink. I am burnt out on granola bars and such though. I need new ideas. And it has to be easy because I have no time in the morning to make a breakfast. I could get up earlier, but we all know thats not gonna happen.

4. I have been wanting to start some kind of new devotional. Specifically for wives. I saw this post yesterday on Kaylas blog, where she talked about this devotional. Looks like it could be a good one? Anyone else reading a devotional geared towards wives?

5. I have been on & off sick since like the beginning of December! What the heck?! I started getting a sore throat last Friday AGAIN. I just got over an upper respiratory infection the week of Christmas. As I mentioned here. Obviously I need to start taking some vitamins & better care of myself or something. Cause this crap is for the birds!

6. I am SO excited about our anniversary trip coming up & a Disney trip with my Ma!!! The hubs & I are going to Savannah, GA at the end of this month for our 1 year anniversary. I can't wait to just relax & spend time with my hubs. Then the end of February I am going to Disney World with my Ma! She got Disney tickets for her bday in July and we just haven't been able to plan a trip because we've been so busy. So I am pretty excited!

7. I love the Hard Candy brand of make up. I have one of their pretty eye shadow pallets. I was considering trying out their concealer and mascara. I have a concealer I really like but its spensive! Yes I said "spensive". So I wanted to try out some others. Anyone tried theirs before?

8. Anyone watch the show Eric & Jessie on E? I only caught a couple of episodes from last season. But I love it. Jessie is a singer. I love to sing. So I like it. :) Isn't it coming back on? When? Somebody help a girl out here.... I rarely watch TV. Besides Nashville and The Walking Dead with my Hubs. (what opposites! ha!) My Hubs pretty much controls the TV. I am usually running around the house doing stuff anyways cause I'm nuts & I can't sit still for a minutes..lol.  So I really don't have time to get hooked on a lot of shows anyways. What are your fave shows?

Andddddd thats all I got for now folks! My OCD wants me to continue to # 10 for an even # but I am out of ideas. Ha! So the end. :)

Body-for-Life

Has anyone heard of Body-for-Life? Me neither. Until recently! You can check out the website here.
A lady my Mom & I know has been doing this program to lose weight. She has lost 100+ pounds! She looks amazing. From what I can tell just from the website you eat 6 small meals a day and work out 6 days a week. It gives you examples of a meal plan for a day, a grocery list, a list of the food you can eat and work out plans on the website. There is also a book which we plan on buying, it has a lot of healthy recipes.

Last spring I did a eating plan very similar to this. I ate 5 meals a day. Only 50 grams of sugar and 1500 grams a sodium a day. A lot of lean meat, veggies, good carbs, protein shakes/bars. Also worked out with a trainer twice a week and about once or twice more on my own. The work outs were hard but fairly easy too. We did a lot of weight training and minimal cardio. Which surprised me. I had always thought I had to do a lot of cardio to lose weight. Not true. Weight training is the way to go. You're replacing fat with muscle, which speeds up your metabolism. Cardio is good too of course. Within a 6 month period I lost 30 pounds. Only doing this strict work out/eating plan within the last 2 months of that 6.

Now I have gained all that weight back. & I am not at all happy about it. I just want to be comfortable in my clothes. That is the biggest thing for me. I don't want my jeans to be too tight to the point that they're uncomfortable. & this is where I am at right now. I thought "oh I need to go buy some new jeans for work because my others don't fit..." NO! I need to lose the freakin weight and wear the billion clothes I have right now! So finally I am feeling motivated to get on track. I really have been struggling with motivation the past few months. I don't want to give up my ice cream, Coca Cola and chocolate. I love that bad stuff. But the thing that really caught my attention with Body-for-Life is you get one whole cheat day. You can have whatever you want! Cake, cookies, a big fat cheeseburger, soda etc. The last eating plan I did with the trainer I couldn't cheat at all. Bout lost my mind people! I don't want to be a friggin Nazi like that again. I want to be able to go out to dinner and enjoy it. & I don't want to look at this as a "diet", I am just choosing to eat healthier.

I have been working on a big list of food/meals we can eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks. It will be easier for me to look at to plan my meals and my grocery shopping list. This is the biggest thing I have learned when trying to eat healthier, you have to plan ahead. Otherwise you end up driving through Wendy's to get a cheeseburger.  Another thing I have learned, working out/eating healthier is WAY easier when you have someone to do it with. Which is why I am glad my Ma is going to do this with me. We can motivate each other, help each other and be accountable to each other. We already work out together so we've got that down, we just have to get the eating part right.

I am excited to do this. I remember how good I felt when I lost that weight. I enjoyed the way I looked. I slept better. Just felt better in general. I want to get back to that. It may take awhile. I know there is no quick fix. But I will keep going. As long as I am going forward that is all that matters.

And now for a little fitness motivation.

Pinterest Exercises

Anyone else tried some of the exercises off Pinterest? You know the ones you pin & it takes you forever to get around to actually doing them? (or you just don't do them.....) Well my Ma & I actually did some of these work outs at the gym last night! Can you say HARD?! I wanted to find us some new exercises to do instead of doing the same ole same ole. Your body gets used to the same thing after awhile so I was trying to mix it up a little bit! I could definitely feel the burn!

We did the Squat, Bridge & Donkey Kick off of this one. You can really feel the Donkey Kick working your booty! I'm not sure about that Pistol Squat... I don't think I have the balance for that lol.

I don't know what this one is called but it HURTS!! Like a lot! We were laughing at each other trying to do this. Which made it even harder. But I can def feel some soreness in my abs from this. I will def be doing this again. It has to be working!

Haven't tried any of these yet, except the All Four Kickback, same thing as the Donkey Kick.

Gonna try this one out too.

Our gym is closed for construction until next week so we are going to the park tonight to do some running/walking. Hopefully the humidity doesn't kill us.
In FL, lots of rain, the freakin heat & mosquito's = yummy.

What are your fave exercises?

Running

As I mentioned before in this post... I am not a runner. & on a side note the Color Mania 5K I had intended on running in was cancelled. Sad face :(  I was really looking forward to it! It was my first 5K.

Anyways I was reading some of the posts on my Bloglovin the other day. Like I do everyday. And I came across this post. I am a new follower of Mile Posts. I loved her post "First Day Of The Rest Of My Life" because she talked about how shes always said shes not a morning person but when she started running in the mornings she came to the realization "Hey maybe I am a morning person?". I felt like she was talking about me. I have always despised early mornings. But I have always wanted to be one of those awesome people who get up early and go to the gym or run. Her post really motivated me. I told my husband about it & we decided we are going to start running together in the mornings, starting off just 2 days a week. I am pretty excited about it. (my inner non morning girl voice is screaming right now) Ive really been wanting to get better at running. Its easy. (ya know  There is no thought process to it. Just run. I am excited my hubs & I are doing something together too. I love it. So say a little prayer for us! I really hope we do this & stay with it.

There is so much fitness motivation going on right now in blogland!

Like the Curing #NOtivaton link up with Life: Oceanside , Mal Smiles & The Pink Growl.

All Things Fitness

So true! Sometimes I wish someone could do it for me lol... I am pretty good about working out. Ive been going to the gym probably since my senior year of high school. Eating healthy is another story. I know they go hand in hand, so I'm working on that.

For the past 2 months I have been doing a fitness boot camp at the local park in my town. A personal trainer started up his own business "Compound Fitness" and started these classes at the park. It has been a lot of fun actually! The first night I was dieing though. I was thinking to myself "Why did I do this again?" But I can definitely tell my endurance is better and I feel stronger. I haven't lost a substantial amount of weight but a lost some inches. I know I would've lost more if I was better about what I ate. Heres the thing... I like chocolate. I like Coca Cola. I like real food. I don't want to eat a salad every day. Or turkey and green veggies. (I ate this like 3 times a day once when I was working out with a trainer. very strict diet plan.) Sometimes you just want a big bowl ice cream! Am I right?!..... But really I don't drink soda all the time or eat sweets constantly. I bring bottles of water with me to work and everywhere I go usually. I drink water all day long. They say you should half your body weight and that is how many ounces of water you should drink a day. I get pretty close to that. We only keep Gatorade, Diet 7UP, milk and water in our house to drink. We don't have any junk food in the house. Except OCCASIONALLY I buy ice cream. So I don't eat terrible ,but I could eat better. Eating healthy is a constant battle for me. The point is I'm trying. Some progress is better than no progress. Right?

If you're in the Jacksonville, FL area check out the Compound Fitness Facebook page. Eric is an awesome trainer!

This watch is awesome! The Polar Watch. It comes with a band you wear around your waist, right below your chest, to monitor your heart rate. The the watch tells you how many calories you've burned. This is a great motivator! When I work out I keep checking it to see the calorie count. It makes you want to work harder to keep seeing that number go up! These watches are much more accurate than the calorie counts on the treadmill and elliptical at the gym. I ordered mine off of heartratemonitors.com. They also have them on Amazon.

I leave you with a little motivation......

This is what I need to look at every time I want that cookie!
